José Pedro Croft

José Pedro Croft was born in 1957 in Porto and attended Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa from 1976 to 1981. In the 1980s he focused mainly on sculpture, using stone, influenced by the sculptor João Cutileiro with whom he worked . Later, during the 1990s, stone was replaced by objects such as tables and chairs along with other materials such as mirror, glass, plaster or bronze.

Croft carried out several public works such as the Escada work in Santo Tirso and a work for the Jardim dos Coruchéus in Lisbon. José Pedro Croft participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. His first solo exhibition was in 1983 at Galeria do Diário de Notícias and he even represented Portugal several times at the Venice Biennale .

His works can be found in various institutional and private collections at the Luso-American Development Foundation , the Museu Nacional Cento de Arte Reina Sofía , the Serralves Foundation , etc. His exhibitions at the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea and Centro Cultural de Belém stand out. More recently, on January 26, 2023, he exhibited a retrospective, called Et sic in infinitum , of his works from the last two years at the Arpad Szenes Museum - Vieira da Silva, Lisbon .
